@bonifartius

Yes, that is one possible outcome.

Another is that dissent will grow and metastasize in the group and someone will rise and "give me power and I can solve your discontent". (which seems to be the "solution" in mismanaged countries in South America. Promise free stuff, if you put me in power.)

@EmpireofDirt@universeodon.com

Hmmm... Didn't know that, and interestingly missing "s".

Yours; missing "f".

Does it have to miss one character?

@Phil Well, we know that the State needs a scapegoat, and sure easy to blame this corporation, rather than taking responsibility themselves.

The State is nothing more than a well-coordinated GANG OF PEOPLE with a incredible Marketing Department.

@bonifartius

... since they seem to refuse my position to be valid; Non-aggression principle, individual autonomy, property rights and voluntary interactions only, then I can't respect their underlying ideology.

I don't think they can encourage all people to sacrifice all for a collective. I think it must be self-serving to the individuals for it to work.

@bonifartius

I have tried many times to get answers from ancoms, but most of the time they don't want to discuss principles. But the bottom line seems to come down to;
The ancom's argument is that "Property doesn't exist" and therefor the ancap position is not valid.

But that would, IMHO, mean that you own nothing, are a slave to the collective that you somehow are a part of, but not free from...
I can imagine idealists trying commune living in a free society....Cont'd

And this is part of my objection to "companies" in a free society. Corporation is a construct of the State, which leads to a lot of rot in society, which both ancaps and socialists can agree on.

Anarchists want the State to be gone, as we see it as the root of the problem. Socialists just want to control the State for their own good and bad purposes, such as ending corporations and subjugating/oppressing the populous..

Elon Musk is releasing info that Twitter colluded with government against the people.

So assuming that Twitter is guilty of criminal conspiracy with the State, then it would be funny to see a multi-billion dollar fine on Twitter for its crimes.

When is a company responsible for the actions of its employees, and when should actual humans be punished?

IF actual people were responsible, then we would see less of companies breaking laws. ATM, it is just "cost of doing business".

And just when I thought we'd reached an all time low, something like this pops up and show me just how wrong I am. #morons #idiots

@lupyuen Our tech is becoming increasingly fragile. In many respects we're going backwards instead of forwards. The producers don't care, of course, because it creates vendor lock-in. The consumers don't care, on the whole, as they don't do any risk assessment. They probably aren't even cognisant of the risks. Even tech-savvy folk have a tendency to ignore downsides as they embrace the latest shiny. It all feels like we're in a giant mudslide towards the cliff.

@paulrickards I kind of contest that those were "type writers". It was after all a microprocessor inside that controlled movement, and are there any "types"?

"Stand-alone plotter" would be a more accurate name.

My guess is that they also have a computer interface of some kind, or?

But cool tech!

When life gives you lemons, give the lemons back. Why were the lemons free? Is something wrong with the lemons? Are the lemons haunted? Be suspicious of the lemons.

@onan I worked for a WallSt bank for a while, and after 18 months or so, I was really tired of it, but the pay was good, very good.
Severance was pretty generous.
So for 2.5 years I tried to do nothing productive, in the hope of getting fired...6-7 months of pay if they did.

I even failed at that. Doing nothing. Boss in New York, I was in Shanghai, no one cared.

I didn't even have tasks to delay... Started work 3-4 hours before anyone else, went home at 3pm.

Eventually, I quit!

Although if anyone happens to know of a good high level programming language with higher kinded types, type classes, dependent types or at least type level macros, that is not pure or at least has an effect system so transparent that it might as well not be, and that isn’t so overloaded with syntax and features it might as well be C++, I’d definitely be all ears.

One that isn’t Scala, that is.
