Yes, they have happened in real projects. Sorry to pop your bubble.

What's the difference between USA and USB?

One connects to your computer and accesses all your data, and the other is an IT industry standard.

@fsf
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Mastodon social network, is in fact, the Fediverse. Mastodon is not a social network unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning network made useful by ActivityPub, WebFinger, NodeInfo, and vital network components comprising a full SNS as defined by standards, done by the W3C and the IETF.
Many computer users run a modified version of the Fediverse social network every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the implementations of Fediverse which is widely used today is often called “Mastodon”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the Fediverse. There really is a Mastodon, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the network they use.

Embarrasing

Climate activists skipped court for their blockade last fall

Instead, they went on holiday to Asia

Their defense?

"They booked their flights as private people, not as climate activists"

Prohibitions for thee, not for me

Turns out that adding ?useskin=vector to #wikipedia URLs restores the previous Vector layout design.

Example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat?useskin=vector

What is wrong with software industry?

Adding more RAM to a computer doesn't solve problem of "not enough RAM". It seems that all programs either assume that it is Ok to take 30-50% of all RAM for itself (e.g. Java runtime), OR they have memory leaks that eventually eats up all memory/resources (browsers!).

Really pisses me off.

So I've been building a 100% analog polyphonic synthesizer with an unique twist. To use only vacuum tube era technology from the 1930s.

Over 300 neon gas diodes create the sound you hear. Pretty awesome for technology from 100 years ago.

Still a work-in-progress, but I wanted to post a video of it with the innards spread out across the workbench. : }

I call it the "Neon String Machine"

So uh.

I was let go from my job yesterday.

If anyone knows someone looking for an Embedded/Firmware/C developer, please let me know
