On the easy side it looks like a mix of lack of familiarity and being afraid to ask questions because they think they'll get mocked for it.

I see it as easy because that's easier to fix than the alternative - lacking the skill to break down and understand logical processes like how a copy machine works and why your copies keep coming out blank (it's because the scanning side is the big flat plane of glass with all the machinery under it and you're putting the paper in wrong).

If you only teach people how to have or be given answers instead of how to find them, you end up with this.

I can't blame them for not figuring out MS-Office tho, that thing has always been a mess.
