Even under conditions of government-sponsored censorship at the cost of billions of dollars, my side is still winning the war of ideas online. Projects need to self-host their container registries. You can get a perfectly cromulent server for a container registry for the money Docker asks for Teams.

Also, I saw suggestions #FOSS projects move to GitHub Container Registry. "Hey, we just got bitten in the arse by centralization, let's move to another centralized service!" 🤦‍♀️

From what I’ve heard the Docker Hub change doesn’t target Mastodon, but any organization that was on their free tier.

So you’ll want to check any other FOSS projects and see if they’re relocating their images as well.

Docker is turning off the Mastodon foundation’s Docker Hub account unless they start paying, which they’re not willing to do.

If you’re running an instance with containers, they’ll now be available from ghcr.io/mastodon/mastodon.
